He was born in 1968 in Eskişehir.
He graduated from the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Anadolu University with a degree in Communication Arts in 1992.
He began his professional career in 1992 as a media planner at Ajans Ekol.
From 1994 to 2006, he worked in various roles at Alice BBDO, (Media +) A4 Advertising, RPM-Radar CDP Europe (Medyatürk), and McCann World Group (Universal McCann).
He then worked as a Director at ADD Medya, a media purchasing company of Çukurova Group, from 2006 to 2010.
In August 2010, he left ADD and became one of the co-founders of PERISCOPE with his brother Emrah Selamet, later acquiring all shares of the company.
He is married and has one child. Fluent in English, Gökhan Selamet is a member of Galatasaray Sports Club and the IAA (International Advertising Association).
